The Cleveland Browns’ offense has had significant struggles in 2025 for a mix of reasons, including poor quarterback play and a struggling offensive line. The pass catchers have also had underwhelming performances this season and have greatly contributed to why the Browns have not been able to score more than 17 points in a single game this season.
That raises an important question: what would it take to raise Cleveland’s offensive ceiling? Would a true WR1 actually make a difference, or are there too many other problems with the offense that are too deep for one player to solve?
So far, there is not a single Browns receiver who has over 200 total yards receiving through the first five weeks of the season. Jerry Jeudy leads the team with 15 receptions for 197 yards, but he has also struggled with drops throughout these few weeks. It’s been a big decline from his Pro Bowl season and is one of the main examples of the offense’s bigger issues.
Given the struggles from the wide receiver corps, adding another receiver would only serve as a band-aid to an offense with many glaring issues. This offense won’t reach its full potential and see consistent success until they have better quarterback play and an offensive line that can protect him. A star receiver would certainly help, but a good pass catcher will not save a broken system.
Let me know what you think in the comments – would trading for a true WR1 raise the Browns’ offensive ceiling?
