The Commanders have so much new in place as the full squad reports to training camp on Tuesday. New offensive and defensive coordinators. An overhauled defensive front and linebacker corps. There are new rushers and receivers. There’s some new player leadership, with authoritative voices helping captain the roster.
This group looks younger, faster and more talented than a 2025 crew that regressed into a 5-12 shell of its former self. Injuries severely depleted a Commanders team that reached the NFC title game the year before, which was one of a few factors that sent them tumbling down.
While this year’s group seems better than the 2025 assembly, Washington remains in a tough division with some uncertainty at some important spots.
Some have the Commanders returning to the NFC playoffs as a wild-card team. Others have them missing the postseason but improving by three or four wins.
Would you consider that a successful season? Is that determined by improvement in key areas, the development of Adam Peters draft picks or other factors examined by the eye test?
Or is it all about the overall record?
