Viewers were stunned on Monday Night Football as J.J. McCarthy turned around a bad NFL debut into one of the best premieres of all-time: After a rocky first half, McCarthy became the first player in history to score three fourth quarter touchdowns in his first career game, helping lead the Vikings to victory over the Bears after a loss seemed all but certain.
Is McCarthy going to be one of the best QBs in the NFC this year, which is really his first season after missing all of 2024 with a knee injury?
What about Daniel Jones in the AFC? Is Jones poised to be this year’s Sam Darnold, Geno Smith, or Baker Mayfield? Jones completed 76% of his passes and posted a 115.9 passer rating in a win over the Dolphins and set a new career-high for passing yards in a first half. Meanwhile, in Justin Field’s Jets debut he posted one of the three best passing days of his career (16/22, 218 yards, 10.82 adjusted Y/A, 3 total touchdowns) and signaled that maybe New York isn’t as bad as we thought.
On the flip side, Bo Nix was expected by many to officially check-in as a top-10 quarterback this season. Instead, he may have been the worst all-around quarterback of the week even though the Broncos won. That being said, Denver beat the team that had the number one pick after last season and Nix was still this bad.
Is Bo Nix bad?
Is Daniel Jones good?
Are the Raiders going to make the playoffs and are the Chiefs going to miss the playoffs? Will Mike McDaniel get fired before you can answer any of these questions? Is Liam Coen the best new hire of 2025?
