The Los Angeles Rams (3-1) welcome the San Francisco 49ers (3-1) in Week 5 of the NFL season on Thursday Night Football; what are your final score predictions?

I’ll be taking the Rams 24-15.

By most accounts the Rams are expected to win this one as the 49ers are depleted and coming off a defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars, while L.A. rebounded from a tough Week 3 loss with a nice win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.

The 49ers can win. Read that again.

San Francico’s remedy to the Rams relies on their coaching. How many times have fans seen Kyle Shanahan and Robert Saleh combine to overwhelm Sean McVay and whoever he had leading his defense?

Now, is L.A.’s defensive coordinator Chris Shula 2-0 against SF since taking over the DC position? Yes, and I’m expecting Shula to be 3-0 after Thursday’s game, but no, I won’t be surprised if the Rams lose.

As hurt as they are, the 49ers still have Fred Warner on defense and Christian McCaffrey on offense. Expect them and the Rams to be busy all day.

For L.A., if they lose, then they are giving life to a team on life support. The 49ers are without Brock Purdy, Nick Bosa, Geroge Kittle and are down to their second, third and fourth string wide receivers. This team is beat up, but they’re still 3-1 with a chance to be 4-1.

Will the Rams take advantage of this situation, or will Shanahan outcoach his dear dear friend McVay?

Final score prediction:

Rams 24, 49ers 15

Winning factor(s):

L.A. should be healthier at the more important positions with good coaching to boot, and they should win this contest. If they do not because they are outcoached, or because of faulty special teams, then they’ll have some extra time before Week 6 to get it right, or not.

Preseason prediction:

“Week 5 vs. San Francisco 49ers: Win. The 49ers are one of the bigger mysteries in the NFL, they’ll be good, but it will take them time before their offense is healthy and starts clicking. L.A. takes advantage of this early season matchup.“
