Accuracy & Good Ball Placement
Dillon Gabriel has struggled with accuracy issues and missed open receivers this season, so the team is looking to Shedeur Sanders for an upgrade in the passing game on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. Accuracy was actually one of Sanders’ strengths in college, so it will be good to see if his skill set can translate to the NFL.
Confidence & Good Decision Making
There is certainly a lot of pressure on Sanders going into this game. Both his supporters and critics have had a lot of opinions on him this season, so all eyes will be on the Browns when he takes the field on Sunday. It will be crucial for Sanders to remain composed under this pressure and trust in his abilities. He’s demonstrated the ability to stay poised under pressure in his career, and maintaining that composure in the pocket will be key to preventing major errors.
(Editor’s Note: I really want to see him step up in the pocket instead of fading backward. Might be the number one thing he needs to improve, overall.)
Leadership
It is challenging for a rookie to be put in this position on a two-win team over halfway through the season. Sanders will need to prove that he can be a true leader on this team and take command of the offense. Strong leadership will allow the rest of the offense to feel more confident and rally around him.
