The Washington Commanders are 1-1 after opening the season with a home win over the New York Giants, and a road loss to the Green Bay Packers on a short week. The Commanders suffered several injuries that will affect them now, and the rest of the season. RB Austin Ekeler(Achilles) and DE Deatrich Wise(calf) will require surgery, ending their seasons. TE John Bates and WR Noah Brown both exited the Packers game with hamstring injuries, and QB Jayden Daniels reportedly got a precautionary MRI on his knee after taking more hits than the team would have liked from Green Bay’s young defense. The good news is the team has 10 days to prepare for the Raiders and deal with some of the less-severe injuries, while the Raiders will be playing on a short week after getting the late game of tonight’s Monday Night Football doubleheader.

The Commanders are looking for a get-right game after their Week-1 sugar high came crashing down on Thursday night in Green Bay. The Raiders are currently 1-0, but they have a division game against the Los Angeles Chargers to deal with before traveling across the country to play the Commanders on Sunday afternoon. Pete Carroll is the oldest head coach in the NFL, but is the latest to try to bring the Raiders back to their glory days. He got off to a good start in Week 1, with a 20-13 win over the rebuilding Patriots. Geno Smith is under center for Las Vegas, and they have a new 1st-round RB in Ashton Jeanty to get the offense moving.
