On a day with potential major movement at wide receiver, the Las Vegas Raiders have made a surprising move with a familar face as they have agreed to sign wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Cooper is signing a one-year contract with the Raiders according to several reports.

The Cooper agreement comes hours after reports surfaced that Raiders’ No. 1 wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is asking to be traded because he wants to a new contract.

Of course, Cooper’s signing could be connected to the Meyers’ development. However, there had been reports in recent days the Raiders were looking for veteran help. The Raiders are young at the position other than meyers.

Assuming Meyers stays, Cooper will likely be near the top of the rotation along with Tre Tucker and rookies Jack Bech and Dont’a Thornton.

Cooper,31, had 44 catches for 547 yards last season split with the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills. He was solid leading up to last year and hew as considered the best available veteran on the street at this point of the offseason.

Cooper was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the No. 4 overall pick in 2015. The Alabama product was a standout with the Raiders, but was traded to the Dallas Cowboys for a first-round pick (safety Johnathan Abram) in 2018.

Now, Cooper returns to the Silver and Black.
