Acme Packing Company
For the second time this season, the Green Bay Packers are set to be favored by double digits. The Packers host the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field on Sunday and as of mid-day Friday the point spread is up to 13.5, a full point higher than the spread on Monday morning.
The last time the Packers were favored by this much was in week 5, when they finished the week as 14-point favorites over the Cincinnati Bengals, The Packers won that game 27-18, failing to cover in their second win this season by that score and just the third game in NFL history that finished with that score line. In 2024, however, the team had better success in their only game with a spread of 13 points or more. The Packers came into week 15 on Monday Night Football as 14-point favorites over the New Orleans Saints and emerged victorious in a 34-0 shutout.
The Packers’ spread is one to watch for this Sunday, but the biggest game on the NFL’s schedule this week is a rematch of the most recent AFC Championship Game. That contest finds the Buffalo Bills hosting the Kansas City Chiefs, but despite playing in Buffalo, Kansas City is favored by 1.5 points. Buffalo has one of the worst run defenses in the NFL, which may be a major factor in them being home underdogs despite having a better record than the Chiefs.
