Canal Street Chronicles Canal Street Chronicles

The New Orleans Saints suffered their fifth loss of the regular season on Sunday when they were defeated by the New England Patriots by a final score of 25-19. This game dropped the Saints’ overall record to just 1-5. Up next, New Orleans will travel to the Windy City for a duel with the NFC’s Chicago Bears. First, let’s check in on social media’s reactions.

NFL Officiating:

While it has become a sore conversation in recent times, the topic of officiating across the National Football League has gotten more and more backlash. Sunday’s contest between the Saints and Pats proved to be no different. While calls or no-calls swung in favor of both teams, it was clear there seemed a lack of control from the referees, causing uproar from football fans.

Pass Defense (or Lack Thereof):

Brandon Staley’s defense was burned or caught with missing assignments in pass coverage numerous times against the Patriots. Among other big plays, New England gashed the New Orleans secondary for touchdown passes of 25, 29, and 53 yards. It’s hard to play winning football when opposing offenses can just score at will.

Taysom Touchdown:

Although the score may not have mattered much in the end result, gadget superstar Taysom Hill, scored his first touchdown of the 2025 season versus the Patriots. The Caesars Superdome crowd erupted following the score from Taysom and fans were eager to share in the excitement online.
