College football is back!

As the 2025 season rolls along, so will our weekly previews of games and NFL prospects to watch. This will come in addition to our NFL Draft coverage over the course of the fall and winter. Whether you’re a fan of the draft or just a college football fan, this series looks to give you an idea of what to watch each week.

Windy City Gridiron’s Lead Draft Analyst, Jacob Infante, will be taking a look at what to expect in Week 2 of this year’s college football campaign.

Blue-chip of the week

No. 5 Miami RT Francis Mauigoa vs. Bethune-Cookman, Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, 6:00 p.m. CST

Miami was able to pick up the win against Notre Dame last week, and a big standout from that performance was right tackle Francis Mauigoa. Seen as a first-round prospect going into the game, he showed everyone exactly why he’s so highly touted as a 2026 NFL Draft prospect this early in the process.

Mauigoa has a refined use of his hands, demonstrating impressive timing and placement behind his strikes to win with leverage in his upper body. He has a sturdy anchor that allows him to hold his own at the point of attack, and he maintains good spatial awareness in pass protection to find work and pick up blitzing defenders as needed. Even though Mauigoa doesn’t seem to have elite length for the offensive tackle position, he more than makes up for it with how polished, intelligent, and powerful he is. He’s my current top tackle in the 2026 class and certainly has the potential to stay there with another strong season.

Prospect matchup to watch

No. 18 Oklahoma WR Deion Burks vs. No. 15 Michigan CBs Jyaire Hill and Zeke Berry, Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, 6:30 p.m. CST

The College GameDay matchup between Oklahoma and Michigan predictably features plenty of NFL talent. However, I’m most interested in this matchup along the perimeter. Deion Burks was on my radar as a prospect last year but ultimately decided to return to school. He excelled at Purdue but had his 2024 season at Oklahoma cut short due to injury. He’s an athletic receiver who’s quick off the line of scrimmage, twitchy out of his breaks, and who’s more than capable of making defenders miss in space.

Michigan has two cornerbacks in particular I’m excited about this season. Jyaire Hill is listed at 6’2” and 185 pounds with impressive speed for his size, as well as the ability to keep receivers in his hip pocket in man coverage. He’s complemented by Zeke Berry, who’s a little smaller at 5’11” and 196 pounds but brings impressive lateral quickness and hip fluidity in coverage, as well as the ball-hawking mentality needed to consistently make plays on the ball. Those two cornerbacks should provide a difficult matchup for Burks, as well as Oklahoma’s star quarterback, John Mateer.
