In some ways, Week 11 felt like another bye week for the Packers.
I know they played a game and we all watched it, but I didn’t come away from the win over the Giants feeling like I had a new grasp on this Packers team. Nor did I feel like the Packers answered any of the long-term questions we’ve had about this team.
And on the one hand, that’s fine. The Giants are bad and probably weren’t going to teach you anything, anyway. Getting out of New York (or, rather, New Jersey) with a win is all the Packers really needed to do.
But on the other hand, the Packers are trying to whip themselves into shape for a playoff run. There are only seven games left in the regular season and they’ve been a shambolic mess for the last month or more. They need to get their stuff straightened out or this season is going to end with another playoff disappointment.
Of course, it may end that way anyway. That’s just the way this football thing goes. But the Packers are another week closer to the end of the season, and we don’t seem to know much more about this team than we did a week ago. Sooner or later, it feels like that’s going to matter.
