Bonta Hill and Joe Shasky do not like the Chiefs vs. Eagles Super Bowl matchup, but this is actually a very good clip in which they deliver a fair and balanced assessment of the Birds:

“As a Niner fan this is like the worst possible matchup… I’m so frustrated… It just sucks. This is the game from hell for 49er fans. There’s no doubt.”

I’m sure picking between the Eagles and Chiefs is like picking between Hamas and Hezbollah for these guys. Hate to say it, but I kinda feel bad for them. That was a ROUGH 49ers season. You lose the Super Bowl in overtime and you’ve got big goals coming into 2024, only to be derailed by a ridiculous amount of injuries and finish 6-11. They lost a bunch of one-score games and Brock Purdy had some clunkers. It wasn’t totally dissimilar to the Birds’ 2023 season, when they ultimately fell apart after their Super Bowl appearance.

If you go to 3:30 in this clip, Hill gives Jalen Hurts props for playing clean games and not turning the ball over. “All Jalen does, whether it’s Alabama, or Oklahoma, is he puts his team in a position to win high-level football games.” That is correct, thank you, Mr. Hill. And then Shasky, who is not wearing the matching hat and jersey combo for the first time ever, points out Nick Sirianni’s winning percentage as well. Nothing but facts. Thank you, gentlemen.

We are officially inviting The Morning Roast to support the Philadelphia Eagles against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. Nobody wants to see the Chiefs win another one anyway. Everyone is sick of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce and even Andy Reid, who has plenty of rings now. Enough already. There’s only one team to pull for on February 9th and it’s the Philadelphia Eagles.
