Windy City Gridiron
Chicago Bears fans have had this one circled on the schedule for some time, as Chicago would host Aaron Rodgers in an opposing team’s uniform, perhaps for the last time in his career. To say that many Bears fans were looking for a little payback against the quarterback who famously said “I own you” to the Bears faithful after yet again posting a win against Chicago in Chicago would be something of an understatement. However, even at this late hour it is unknown if Rodgers will be suiting up for the Steelers, as he has a broken wrist on his non-throwing hand. If he can’t go, the Bears will instead face Mason Rudolph on Sunday. Speaking of injuries, the Bears have a total of six of the eleven day one starters for the defense out this Sunday, including the entire linebacking core. With the weather expected to be nasty, predicting this game is no easy task. However, our WCG crew gave it a go nonetheless and here is what we think is going to happen in this week’s game:
GOOCH: 36-31 Bears. Rodgers decides to play, and he reaches deep for one more stellar performance against a depleted Bears defense. Despite throwing for three touchdowns, however, he is sacked four times – two by Austin Booker. And he throws a key interception late in the game to give the Bears another drive to win the game. Meanwhile Caleb Williams has one of his better statistical games of the season, matching Rodgers TD passes and adding fifty yards on the ground. Rome adds another TD catch as does Kmet. The Bears rush for over 175 yards on the day with Swift eclipsing the 100-yard mark. Bears dispel the Rodgers magic in this last matchup of his career.
Jack R Salo: Bears 30-20. They’ve learned how to win close, now Chicago learns how to win easy. I don’t think Rodgers will play, and the Bears will focus enough effort on TJ Watt so Iceman will have time to throw. The crowd will be electric, it will be a beautiful fall day, and Chicago will move to 8-3 on the season ahead of a primetime matchup in Philly.
Gary Baugher Jr.: Still unsure of who is starting but I’m taking the Bears by 2 scores either way, 27-17. If the issue with drops doesn’t rear it’s ugly head again, I can see a good statistical day for Caleb against a league worst passing defense in the Steelers. The Swiftgai combination goes for 140+ yards on the ground and 1 score. Caleb throws for 250+ and goes for a couple touchdowns. The defense adds another interception to their league leading number. Bears move to within 1 game of a winning season. (edited)
Bryan Orenchuk: Bears 24-21. Burden with 100+ yards and a long TD off a short slant. Running game over 200 yards and 2 TD’s and Sewell with 20 tackles and Sweat a sack fumble with a small return by Booker. CJGJ gets...
