Windy City Gridiron
Hello, Chicago Bears Fans! After the dominating performance of the Beloved against the Cleveland Browns, the Bears are looking for some payback against the Green Bay Packers in the rematch on Saturday, after Week 14’s disappointing loss in Green Bay. A lot has happened in just a couple of weeks, with the Bears missing both Rome Odunze and Luther Burden, III for the game at Soldier Field, but welcoming back Tremaine Edmunds to the active roster. On the other side of the ball, the biggest injury news of the last two weeks, outside of Patrick Mahomes’ knee injury, is that Micah Parsons was lost to a season-ending ACL tear in his left knee, which he suffered in the game the Packers lost to the Denver Broncos. Consequently, handing the Bears back the division lead. The Packers have listed Josh Jacobs and Christian Watson as questionable and are likely to be game-time decisions. Will the Bears extend that lead and their stranglehold on the NFC North, or will the Packers again claim the top spot by defeating the Bears yet again?
Our WCG contributors weigh in with their predictions below:
GOOCH: Bears 27, Packers 13. The Packers defense isn’t only missing Parsons, but they are missing players at all levels of their defense, including, likely, their starting safety, Evan Williams, who is technically listed as questionable but did not practice all week. I expect the Bears to take the lessons they learned in the second half of the game at Lambeau and run the ball down the Packers’ throat. Monangai gets over a hundred yards and scores a rushing touchdown. The success in the run will open up the play action pass, as Caleb puts up over 250 passing yards and adds a throwing and rushing touchdown to his tally. On the defensive side of the ball, I expect Austin Booker and Sweat to both notch sacks, and I predict Wright picks Jordan Love in the second half, tilting the game in Chicago’s favor. For once, this game does not come down to a single score, as the Bears solidify their position at the top of the North and the NFC.
Jack R Salo: Bears 23-20. I think the Bears will build a two-score lead early. With Micah Parsons the biggest name on a long list of injured Packers, the Bears can really have success with the things they do best. They’ll run with pulling linemen, take the ball away, and get Caleb on the move. Things will get interesting late, but the Packers will never hold a lead in this one.
Mongo Peanut: Bears 27-16. I think that the Packers enter the game without Zach Tom or Christian Watson, which completely limits their offensive firepower. Bears stack another strong performance with a pick on Jordan Love and hold Jacobs to under 70 yards rushing. On the other side of the ball, Caleb gets comfortable in the pocket and connects with Colston Loveland 6+ times, and the Bruise Brothers wear down...
