Rashee Rice is one of the most talented receivers in the NFL, but his young career with the Kansas City Chiefs has been marred by drama and off-the-field issues. In 2024, the SMU product was the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash. He was ultimately jailed and suspended by the NFL for the incident. Later in 2024, Rice was under investigation for allegedly punching a Dallas photographer.

Most recently, Rice was forced to serve 30 days in a Dallas County jail after violating his probation because of a positive test for THC. The jailing came not long after a cleanup surgery for his right knee, which led to questions about whether the receiver would be able to receive proper medical attention during his sentence. Ultimately, he was allowed to get treatment at Parkland Hospital during his sentence.

Rice was just released from jail, and reporters were quick to try to get a statement from the Chiefs star. Instead, Rice sprinted away to avoid any questions.

The mini-sprint showed that Rice’s knee injury is progressing. Now, the Chiefs need him to lock in off the field and meet his potential on it. Rice has 156 catches for 1,797 yards and 14 touchdowns through 28 career games played. The Chiefs’ offense hasn’t been quite as potent as normal in recent years, and with Patrick Mahomes recovering from a brutal knee injury in his own right, the Chiefs need their weapons to step up if they are to get back on championship track.
