The Browns big trade of the 2025 NFL draft, for Travis Hunter, was helped by unknown Jags GM
In what seems like six months ago, the biggest move in the 2025 NFL draft came when the Cleveland Browns traded down three spots with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In what will mostly be known as the “Travis Hunter trade”, the Browns acquired picks that became DT Mason Graham and RB Quinshon Judkins.
While there were other little pieces to the trade, the final big piece comes with the Jaguars 2026 first-round pick heading to Cleveland.
There were rumors of a potential deal the day prior to the draft, but, for the most part, almost everyone assumed the Browns would be taking Hunter with the second overall pick. Instead, the youngest GM in NFL history (Andrew Berry) made a deal with the youngest GM currently in the NFL (James Gladstone).
The two front office heads came together on a podcast from CBS Sports to talk about the deal and how it came about. In one segment, Gladstone jokes about no one knowing his number:
It is interesting to note how important trust is to Berry, especially given the size of the deal, and how quickly the two young GMs were able to build that trust to get the deal done.
In the end, both will likely see a huge portion of their reputations judged by the trade. While Hunter might be a special two-way player, if Graham, Judkins, and whoever Cleveland selects with the extra ‘26 first-round pick become a special group, both teams could come out on the winning side.

How are you feeling right now about the Travis Hunter trade? What do you think about these GMs speaking so openly and together on a podcast like this? Too much access/not enough secrets or awesome exposure?
