Washington Commanders Roster Moves: Two WRs elevated from the practice squad

The Washington Commanders are elevating WRs Tay Martin and Ja’Corey Brooks from the practice squad for tonight’s Monday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears. The Commanders ruled out two players on Saturday, with WRs Terry McLaurin(quad) and Noah Brown(groin) not quite there yet. This is the third straight missed game for McLaurin, and the fourth for Brown.

Tay Martin has been elevated the last two weeks, and can’t be added to the active roster again unless he’s signed to the 53-man roster. He’s been targeted one time in each of the last two games and caught both passes. This is the first practice squad elevation for Ja’Corey Brooks, an undrafted free agent signed this year out of Louisville. He had some hype in training camp and during the preseason, but hasn’t had the opportunity to get on the field until now.

Martin and Brooks will join Deebo Samuel, Jaylin Lane, Luke McCaffrey, and Chris Moore. Deebo Samuel has been dealing a heel injury for the last two weeks, but is reportedly going to play tonight. Chris Rodriguez was the the other questionable player for tonight’s game, but Washington didn’t elevate either of their two RBs on the practice squad(Chase Edmonds, Donovan Edwards). If Rodriguez wasn’t able to play, the Commanders would only have Bill Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols available.

Sam Cosmi was listed as doubtful on Saturday’s injury report, and he hasn’t been activated from the Reserve/PUP list. He has now been ruled out and will have another week to practice and get ready to return to face the Cowboys on Sunday. The Commanders also added DT Eddie Goldman to the injury report yesterday, but he wasn’t ruled out along with Cosmi.

The Chicago Bears are also elevating two players(K Jake Moody, DT Jonathan Ford). Bears kicker Cairo Santos is listed as questionable for tonight’s game with a right thigh injury, but he was a full participant in practice all week. He reportedly had a flareup in his thigh over the weekend, and Moody could be kicking tonight. DT Grady Jarrett was ruled out, making Ford a depth elevation.
