Washington Commanders Roster Moves: Two players elevated from the practice squad

The Washington Commanders are elevating C Michael Deiter and P Mitch Wishnowsky from the practice squad for tonight’s game against the Green Bay Packers. The Commanders released their injury report yesterday, and only had two players with injury designations. Tress Way suffered a back injury in the season opener when Giants rookie LB Abdul Carter beat TE Ben Sinnott and hit the veteran punter. Way was questionable to return during that game and limited in practice the last two days.

Head coach Dan Quinn said the team’s level of concern was lower for Way after watching him kick at practice on Tuesday. He called the signing of Wishnowsky the right move on a short week. Wishnowsky being elevated doesn’t mean that Way isn’t playing today, and he was on the field kicking before the game. Washington now has a backup available if Way can’t go at any point tonight.

Michael Deiter got elevated for the second game in a row. That means he only has one more elevation from the practice squad available before he would have to be signed to the 53-man roster to be available on game days. He is Washington’s main backup at center with emergency backup Nick Allegretti getting the start at RG in Week 1. This also allowed Andrew Wylie to be the swing tackle and backup tackles Trent Scott and George Fant to be inactive. This could be the lineup again vs the Packers.

Chris Moore was elevated from the practice squad last week, but won’t get that opportunity in Green Bay. He had the Commanders first big catch last week, hauling in a 19-yard reception for his only completion of the game. Washington only kept 5 receivers on their initial 53-man roster, and all five will be available for Jayden Daniels tonight.

The Green Bay Packers announced several roster moves before tonight’s game. They’re placing DL Brenton Cox Jr. on injured reserve and elevated T Brant Banks and CB Micah Robinson from the practice squad
