The Washington Commanders cut their roster down to 53 players on Tuesday, but that roster will likely have a few changes before the team hosts the New York Giants in Week 1. Washington is reportedly hosting free agent WR Kendrick Bourne for a visit next week. He requested his release from the New England Patriots, and is now looking for his next team. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, and spent his first four years in the league there. This makes him very familiar with Commanders GM Adam Peters who was in the 49ers front office during that time.
The Commanders only kept 5 WRs on their roster, and there has been speculation that they would be looking to add another option in free agency. They didn’t have any successful waiver claims after cutdown day, but are now looking to potentially add another receiver to join Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, Noah Brown, Jaylin Lane. and Luke McCaffrey.
