More OL depth
The Washington Commanders had their rookie minicamp this weekend, and there were also a few veterans invited to tryout. Former Ravens and Giants OT Tyre Phillips was one of them, and that has reportedly led to him signing a contract with the team. Phillips worked with current Commanders OL coach Bobby Johnson in New York, and they will get the chance to work together again as the team prepares for training camp in July.
Tyre Phillips(6’5”, 330lbs) was a third-round pick from Mississippi State selected by the Baltimore Ravens in 2020. He started 8 games at guard during his rookie season. Ankle and knee injuries affected him in his first two seasons, and he was released as he prepared for his third season in Baltimore. He then bounced around between the New York Giants(twice) and the Philadelphia Eagles. His second stint in New Jersey saw him start 9 games at right tackle.
