Star edge rusher Abdul Carter left the New York Giants’ first day of mandatory minicamp early on Monday after suffering an apparent foot injury. The club’s early reaction was optimistic, as the franchise claimed that Carter was okay. Carter’s latest injury reveals his status for Day 2 of minicamp.
Reports indicate that the 22-year-old linebacker was not available for the Giants’ second day of mandatory minicamp,” according to Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports. While the severity of the injury remains unclear, it was bad enough for Carter to take the day off from minicamp on Tuesday.
“LB Abdul Carter is not practicing with the New York Giants today at Day 2 of their minicamp,” reported Vacchiano.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh has already claimed Abdul Carter’s injury is minor. So, the club is likely being cautious considering it’s only early June.
With Carter out on Tuesday, the Giants seemingly worked with Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Arvell Reese in the linebacker positions. Meanwhile, Shleby Harris, Chauncey Goldton, and Zachh Pickens participated in minicamp in the defensive end roles.
June 10 will be Carter’s last day to return to minicamp and bounce back from the injury. If not, the next time he will have the chance to return to practice with his teammates will come in late July when the Giants begin training camp.
The former first-round pick proved to be a solid asset in his first year in the league. Although he only had six starts last season, Carter managed to appear in all 17 games. The ex-Penn State Nittany Lion finished the 2025-26 campaign with 43 combined tackles (25 solo), four sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
