The Vikings’ top wide receiver duo of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison may not suit up together until the fourth regular season game thanks to the latter’s recent suspension, but that hasn’t stopped them from being regarded amongst the league’s best ahead of the season.
In a recent piece by CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin, the anlayst went about ranking the top 10 wide receiver duos in the league ahead of the 2025 regular season. The list has some serious surprises, but what wasn’t shocking was where the duo of Jefferson and Addison ended up on the list. Per Benjamin, the pair of Vikings are the league’s third best, behind only the duo of AJ Brown/DeVonta Smith (No. 1, Eagles) and Ja’Marr Chase/Tee Higgins (No. 2, Bengals).
“No one makes big plays look easier than Jefferson, who’s basically a lock for 1,000 yards even if he misses half the year with bumps and bruises,“ says Benjamin. ”Speaking of injuries, a summer hamstring strain will be something to monitor as the season unfolds. But this is the truth: As long as No. 18 is suited up, the Vikings have a chance to steal the spotlight. He sets the standard for smooth route-running and open-field magic. It’s a shame he and Addison aren’t always on the field together — the latter will miss three games to start 2025 due to suspension — because Addison’s also got elite fundamentals, if less high-octane experience.“
Jefferson is coming off a 2024 season where he played in all regular season games, finishing with 103 receptions for 1,533 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns with Sam Darnold as his quarterback. Addison also posted solid numbers with 875 receiving yards on 63 catches to go with nine scores himself.
While Addison did not reach the 1,000-yard threshold last year, the pair still combined for 2,408 receiving yards which was good for the second most among receiver duos in the league last year. The only duo better was Chase/Higgins who combined for 2,619.
With Addison set to miss the first three games of the season, he’ll likely see a hit to his overall production and take a step back from his 2024 line. But once they’re back on the field together, expect the fireworks to start up swiftly.
