Vikings vs. Cowboys ‘Sunday Night Football’ live discussion: Schotty’s last stand
Field Gulls Field Gulls

The Dallas Cowboys pretty much have to win out to make the playoffs, and even that might not necessarily be enough. Brian Schottenheimer’s team getting run over by the Detroit Lions to the tune of a 44-30 defeat means their postseason hopes are at less than 10 percent.

For the Minnesota Vikings, there will be no postseason for them. After winning 14 games with Sam Darnold last year, the Vikings have to win out just to clinch an above .500 season. It’s all about J.J. McCarthy’s development at this point, because he’s looked mostly horrible in his first year as a starter, but he did take apart the alleged Washington Commanders defense last week and had a turnover-free day.

Keeping this game on prime time is the perfect example of the allure of the Dallas Cowboys, because 5-8 vs. 6-6-1 matchups normally do not stay on Sunday Night Football when flex scheduling is viable.
