A roster move! An actual roster move!

The Minnesota Vikings made a roster move on Tuesday, which at this point of the offseason qualifies as real, honest-to-goodness news.

The team has announced that they have signed tight end Giovanni Ricci. In order to make room for him on the roster, they have waived linebacker Matt Harmon.

Ricci went undrafted out of Western Michigan in 2020 and signed with the Carolina Panthers, spending that season on the practice squad. He then appeared in 31 games for the Panthers over the next two seasons, serving as both a fullback and a tight end. In 2022, he caught eight passes for 100 yards, including a 32-yard reception. He then appeared in five games in 2023 before a shoulder injury landed him on injured reserve.

After that, Ricci signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2024, but was released after suffering an injury. He then signed with the New England Patriots this past February but was released by them in April and is now in Minnesota.

Harmon was one of the players who was a part of the Vikings’ rookie tryouts last month and was signed by the team after those workouts.

So, it’s not an earth-shattering roster move or anything like that, but it still counts.
