Will there be anymore signings?

The fifth day of free agency saw the team sign linebacker Eric Wilson and bring in wide receiver Rondale Moore for a visit. Other than that all that was left to talk about is you know who. The bane of the Vikings fans existence eh?

My reading of the tea leaves suggests that the team has to have some kind of plan or idea of what they want to do to add another QB to the room.

Brett Rypien’s career stat line is ...

He has completed 98 out of 168 passes (58.3%) for 950 yards with 4 TDs and 9 INTs over 4 starts.

That can’t be plan A if JJ gets dinged up.

If it is, then we are in more trouble than a little bit.

The team went out and signed players for the interior lines that are older save for Will Fries.

That seems like a win now mentality to me.

I do not know what their plan is but it is not looking comfortable right now.

The Vikings currently have 32.8M in cap space according to over the cap.

They have negative 9M in cap space for 2026 though.

To get cap space in 2026, the team will likely restructure Hockenson, Greenard, and JJ. They will more than likely do something with O’Neill’s salary because I doubt they leave his cap hit at 23.2M in the last year of his deal. They have structured Ryan Kelly’s deal whereby if they cut him next year they would save 12M. If they cut Hargrave next year they would save 11M. They do have some “levers” that they will pull to create cap space but also to simply try to make the team better. We are all hoping these older veterans have another strong year but it is not guaranteed.

I am not seeing much cap space to try and bring in Rodgers or Wilson who they are not even talking to.

Will Rodgers want a contract that reflects “what the dollar amount represents”?

I still think the team would like to bring back Cousins since any amount he gets will be offset by what the Vikings pay him which would be the minimum like Wilson got last year from the Steelers. Cousins knows the system too. I do not know if they would give the job to Cousins outright though. He could balk at having to “compete” for the starting job. I have no clue if this is true but just a guess.

Until they do something we will continue to speculate.
