Vikes Views: Who Scores the First TD of the Season?
Daily Norseman Daily Norseman

The anticipation for the Minnesota Vikings’ season opener feels endless, much like a child counting down the days to Christmas. When the Vikings finally face off against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, who will step up to score the team’s first touchdown of the season?

Justin Jefferson

The league’s best WR isn’t known for scoring loads of TDs, averaging only 8 TDs per season through his first 5 seasons.

Aaron Jones Sr.

RB1 had only 5 TDs last season in Minnesota. He’s likely to see a lot of action as KOC tries to ease J.J. McCarthy into the game.

T.J. Hockenson

Hockenson is a big target but did not see the end zone last year. He’s hoping for his first TD since Week 12 of the 2023 season. Coincidentally, the TD was against the Bears.

Adam Thielen

Thielen will step into the WR2 role on Monday night. He’ll be amped to get back out there, especially against a division rival.

Jordan Mason

Mason had 3 TDs and 6 starts last season in San Francisco. He won’t see the lion share of carriers, but he should see some action to give Jones some rest. Love my fellow yellow jacket, but he might not get the right opportunity Week 1.

J.J. McCarthy

Will McCarthy run one in for the first TD of the game? It’s unlikely, but he did have 10 rushing TDs at Michigan.

Defensive/Special Teams TD

You can’t put one of these off the table with a Flores defense out there. The Vikings had 3 defensive TDs in 2024. Also, Myles Price looked good in the preseason.
