Vikes Views: Should the Vikings Add a Free Agent WR?
Daily Norseman Daily Norseman

The Minnesota Vikings are looking a little thin at Wide Receiver. Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison are one of the bets duos in the NFL, however Addison is suspended for the first three games. WR Rondale Moore went down with a season ending injury in the first preseason game. Jalen Nailor hasn’t lit the world on fire at WR3. The Week 1 Depth Chart looks like Jefferson, Nailor, Jackson, Felton and maybe Thayer Thomas. Take away Jefferson and it looks like the Green Bay Packers.

There are a few recognizable names still out there. They have some age on them, but they might be able to help out in a pinch. Should the Vikings pursue another receive in free agency? Let’s take a look at a few available players.

Amari Cooper – 31

Cooper is the most decorated player available. He’s surpassed the 1,000 yard mark 7 out of 10 years in the NFL. Last year he was traded mid season and didn’t have a huge impact in Buffalo.

Gabriel Davis – 26

Davis had come decent success in Buffalo before falling off the map in Jacksonville last year. He’s the youngest on this list, but his best season was 836 yards and 7 TDs with peak Josh Allen and Diggs on the other side.

Nelson Agholor – 32

I am not sure how Agholor has lasted this long int he league. He’s an older Gabriel Davis at this point.

Tyler Boyd – 30

Boyd was a solid WR3 in Cincinnati for a good while. He spent last year in Tennessee and it’s hard to tell if he still has anything left int he tank. If he does, he migth be the best season-long term solution.

Brandon Powell – 29

There is something about Powell I really enjoy watching. He’s never been given a massive opportunity. He’s familiar with the team and that might mean he’s back in purple soon.

Allen Robinson – 31

Robinson has had a decent career. He was never able to recreate the magic of his second year in the league. He’ll be on his 5th team in 5 years if he finds a landing spot.
