The Minnesota Vikings have three road opponents who are lined up for international games this year. The Browns are hosting a game in London, the Chargers are hosting in Sao Paolo, Brazil and the Steelers are hosting in Dublin, Ireland.
The Vikings are undefeated outside of the Unites States. They are 4-0 in regular season games played in London. They also won the first NFL game ever in the UK in 1983. It was a preseason game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Vikings also won in Gothenburg, Sweden against Chicago in the 1988 preseason.
On a more personal note, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Vikings in London last year. The NFL does a great job with fan events all over the city. Former players, cheerleaders, mascots, radio personalities and all the normal fan fare is transported to the city. I love to travel and it’s a thrill to connect the Vikings to a trip. I recommend to everyone that can make it happen. The game feel is a lot different. You will see fans of every team and hear the most random reasons for cheering for them. It’s a more relaxed and fun atmosphere than a typical stadium situation. I enjoyed sitting next to an Aaron Rodgers fan from London. That’s not something I can typically say here. I’ll be rooting for them to snag one of these international spots. Hoping for Sao Paolo or Dublin, but I’ll take London again.
