Vikes Views: Carson Wentz or Max Brosmer?

The Minnesota Vikings lost a few starters on Sunday Night. Starting QB J.J. McCarthy is the most notable name on that list. McCarthy is expected to be out 2-4 weeks with a high ankle sprain.

The team decided to move on from backup Sam Howell in the offseason and sign free agent Carson Wentz. They also kept undrafted rookie Max Brosmer on the roster as QB3. They are going to go with Wentz on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, if you were able to choose, which QB would you want to start this Sunday?

Carson Wentz

Wentz is on his 6th team in 6 years. The North Dakota State product came in the league with a bang and never seemed the same after his knee injury in 2017. He hasn’t been a full time start since midway through the 2022 season in Washington. Wentz will get his chance to prove he still has it with one of the most talented rosters he has played with (maybe outside of 2017).

Max Brosmer

Brosmer looked great in the preseason. The undrafted rookie out of the University of Minnesota had 364 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT and a 91.8 passer rating in 3 games. He could be another Kyle Sloter, or it could be a sign of things to come. The two scenarios he likely needs to see the field are a Wentz injury or poor play from Wentz. If he does get a chance, there will be a lot of fans anxiously waiting to see.

Brosmer spend 5 years at New Hampshire (1 medical redshirt season) and his final year at the Minnesota. He finished with a 7-5 record, 2,617 yards, 17 TDs, 5 INTs and another 5 TDs on the ground. College results don’t always project to the NFL, but it’s hard to see for me.
