A video has emerged of Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders taking first-team reps at Wednesday’s practice, and his performance was certainly noteworthy.
Cleveland’s starting quarterback job is a four-way battle between Shedeur Sanders, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel. It has been widely reported that Flacco and Pickett are the two front-runners for the QB1 spot, but there’s still plenty of time for Sanders and/or Gabriel to build their respective cases.
Camryn Justice of WEWS-TV shared a video of Sanders taking four first-team snaps on Wednesday. Sanders attempted three passes, missing on the first but throwing a pair of dimes to complete the other two:

It’s too easy to overreact to training camp highlights, and this doesn’t mean that Sanders has closed the gap with Flacco and Pickett. But the 23-year-old flashed his potential with those two completed passes, and fans will naturally get excited when it’s a big-named rookie with as much hype as Sanders.
The Browns kick off their 2025 preseason with a road game against the Carolina Panthers on Aug. 8. They’ll begin the regular season with a home contest against the AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 8.
Sanders was expected to be an early or mid-first-round pick, with some scouts believing he’d go as high as No. 3 overall to the New York Giants. But in one of the most stunning draft slides ever, Sanders went unselected in the first four rounds before Cleveland finally took him with the No. 144 selection.
Shedeur Sanders was the consensus No. 2 quarterback prospect in this year’s class behind Cam Ward, who went first overall to the Tennessee Titans. Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe and the aforementioned Dillon Gabriel were the other quarterbacks taken before Sanders.
