Pride of Detroit
Since the news broke surrounding former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, many fans began to wonder how the team would address the loss. Prior to that situation completely unfolding, Lions general manager Brad Holmes and the rest of his staff spent plenty of resources addressing the overall depth of the secondary. Still, losing Arnold, who was projected by many to be the other starting outside cornerback opposite of D.J. Reed, stings quite a bit.
So where does Detroit go from here? That is the question myself and my good friend Meko Scott addressed in our most recent video over on the Pride of Detroit YouTube Channel. And while most of the major moves via trade in free agency have already taken place, there is still plenty of time prior to the regular season getting underway.
To kick the conversation off, we went with the option that would likely be the most exciting—trading for a cornerback. Many have pointed to Denzel Ward of the Cleveland Browns, and we add a few other names that could be interesting adds. Spoiler alert—I would temper expectations in terms of Detroit going with the trade option.
Next up, we kicked around the idea of the Lions adding a veteran in free agency once training camp gets rolling. In my opinion, this seems like the more likely avenue due to cost and availability. And lastly, we discussed the overall depth of the secondary if Detroit is going to stick with who they already have in the building.
