The 2024 Super Bowl matchup is officially set, and for the second time in the past three seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will square off for the Lombardi Trophy.

Kansas City got the best of the Eagles two years ago, and this is a chance for Philadelphia to redeem themselves, hoping to accomplish what they couldn’t in the previous clash.

The Chiefs are currently 1.5-point favorites according to most major sportsbooks, effectively making this game a pick’em in the betting community.

While this matchup might seem close on paper, one statistic might be worrisome to Eagles fans.

As Jim Rome and Chase Daniel recently discussed on Rome’s show, Vic Fangio has an 0-8 record against teams led by Patrick Mahomes.

Fangio was the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2019-2021, where his teams were tormented by Mahomes and the Chiefs.

He’s now the defensive coordinator for the Eagles, and if he’s not careful, history could repeat itself.

Fortunately for Fangio, the Eagles’ defense is playing at a high level, perhaps the best they’ve played in several years.

Their secondary got a lot better in the offseason, and their already strong defensive line received some impressive adds as well.

Everything is lining up for this to be an exciting Super Bowl, and it will be interesting to see if Fangio’s past will come back to haunt him, or if he can start a winning streak against Mahomes and the Chiefs, something that has proven difficult for teams across the league.
