ESPN is bringing back host Treavor Scales following a four-year absence.

According to Front Office Sports, Scales is returning to The Worldwide Leader In Sports as an anchor for ‘SportsCenter’ and is set to leave Atlanta for the network’s Connecticut office. He has described the opportunity as one he would have never thought to ask for, also suggesting the timing couldn’t have been better.

“Scales is exiting his hometown of Atlanta and returning to ESPN in Connecticut as a SportsCenter anchor after four years away from the network, ESPN confirmed exclusively to Front Office Sports,” the publication reports.

“It was the perfect opportunity at the perfect time—the dream job that I never would have thought to ask for,” Scales was quoted as saying.

Treavor Scales Expected To Land Recurring Slot With ESPN

Scales will guest-host certain ‘SportsCenter’ editions this summer and, according to the network’s SVP of sports studio and entertainment, Mike Foss, he is likely to get a recurring daily anchor spot by the fall.

Foss described Scales as “ego-less in all the best ways” while announcing his return.

The former Harvard running back started out as a crew coordinator in remote operations at ESPN in 2013, later earning himself a fellowship opportunity to get on the air. He worked on the international feed and ‘SportsCenter’ on Snapchat for years before departing ESPN in 2021.

Treavor Scales covered the Atlanta Braves and Hawks for Bally/FanDuel RSN while away from ESPN. He also worked as a sideline reporter for the ACC on The CW.

“The beauty of the regional network was the family atmosphere that we wound up developing,” he said. “We were all covering the exact same team. We all had the same frustrations when they had losing slumps and rode the highs on winning streaks.”
