The venue for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2025 regular season game in Dublin, Ireland is set.

An announcement of the Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 regular season game in Dublin, Ireland is expected any day and now the venue seems to be set.

According to RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann), Croke Park will play host to the NFL’s first ever game in Ireland, not Aviva Stadium, which is where the more recent college football games have taken place.

“Croke Park looks set to host Ireland’s first NFL game later this year with the Government briefed today on the proposal to bring a Pittsburgh Steelers fixture to GAA Headquarters,” Mícheál Lehane writes. “While no contracts have been signed yet the Government hopes that an announcement could be made by the weekend, ahead of the Super Bowl on Sunday in New Orleans.”

Croke Park is much older than Aviva Stadium. It was opened in 1884 compared to when Aviva Stadium was in 2010, but it’s capacity is much larger. Croke Park can hold 82,300 people compared to Aviva Stadium’s capacity of 51,700.

Croke Park has also already played host to a preseason game between the Steelers and Chicago Bears back in 1997. The Steelers defeated the Bears 30-17 in the contest.

It remains to be seen who the Steelers will face this time around, but there is growing speculation that their opponent will be the Green Bay Packers.

“Packers I bet,” Steelers Ireland podcast host Jimmy English wrote.

The Steelers have expressed that playing a game in Ireland is one of their long-term goals. The team gained the NFL marketing rights for the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland through the NFL’s Global Markets Program two years ago.

Now that goal seems to be closer than ever with Croke Park being announced as the venue for their long-awaited return to Ireland.
