The ratio of thorns to roses varies from season to season. Heck, it varies from week to week. This week we see a thorn bush with maybe an occasional petal here and there. This is a matchup between two bad football teams. If it were a Thursday night game, the Amazon crew would be working overtime to hype it up. As it stands, it will be buried on Sunday with the fifth string television crew calling the balls and strikes.
As a general reminder, we take a look at the top five players for each team and then look at how they rank in particular categories. Doing so gives us some idea of each team’s path to victory and maybe a clue of how the game will turn out in general. The strength of the team is in their defense and secondary specifically, but that is relative as we will see. This is just a bad football team and there is no other way around it.

Tytus Howard has been better since returning to tackle, so that’s two out of five. You do that at the plate in MLB and you are a Hall of Famer. Two out of five in the NFL ain’t going to get it done. Still, let’s focus on the positive. That’s three of the four defensive linemen on the list and Sheldon Rankins is also better than 70. That group is due a big play and I imagine it might come this Sunday.
This is going to be a titanic battle between the movable object and the resistible force. Obviously, the Titans offense and Texans offense are not directly competing, but this game will settle the battle of who has the worst offense in football. The Titans are 28th in points, 31st in total yards, 28th in...
