The Green Bay Packers lost three players in their win against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday: receiver Dontayvion Wicks (ankle), defensive end Lukas Van Ness (foot) and safety Javon Bullard (concussion). While there weren’t any updates on the status of Wicks on Monday, head coach Matt LaFleur did answer questions about where Van Ness and Bullard stand today.
Van Ness’ injury appeared to be the most serious, as he was carted off the Packers’ sideline to the locker room. Yesterday, LaFleur stated that Van Ness didn’t break a bone in his foot, but that he was going to have an MRI on Monday.
When asked about how Van Ness’ MRI came back, LaFleur said, “We definitely avoided something serious, but how long he’ll be out remains to be seen.” Per LaFleur, Van Ness did indeed injure his foot on the sack of quarterback Joe Flacco. “If he’s unable to go, it’s definitely going to be a loss,” added LaFleur about his end, who rotates in heavily with Rashan Gary and Micah Parsons.
LaFleur also stated that Bullard, who had a concussion earlier in the year, was cleared by the medical staff and is not in concussion protocol. Bullard told LaFleur that he simply had a stinger, even though the team officially announced Bullard as questionable to return with a concussion during the game.
Keep an eye out for these three players on the injury report this week, on top of tackle Anthony Belton (ankle) and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (knee), who both missed Week 6’s action due to injury.
