JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — There probably weren’t many people who knew of Ke’Shawn Williams entering Saturday night. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ undrafted rookie earned some recognition with his two-catch, 55-yard performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The latter of Williams’ pair of grabs, a 26-yard touchdown snag, stretched the Steelers’ lead to two possessions. With 5:16 to go in the fourth quarter, Skylar Thompson flicked the ball downfield just before getting hit by an oncoming defensive lineman. Williams leaped over Jaguars cornerback Aydan White to secure the score.

“I had a go ball when I speed-released one down the field, saw the ball in the air,” Williams said afterward. “I just saw the ball. That’s all I had my sights on, was coming down with that ball and I did it.”

Williams’ output led the Steelers, with Scotty Miller trailing behind with four receptions for 47 yards. Fellow undrafted rookie Roc Taylor had a pair of catches for 38 yards and Max Hurleman had two for 29, including a touchdown and an ensuing backflip.

Williams, an Indiana product, was the Hoosiers’ fourth-leading wideout a season ago. Now he’s striving for a roster spot in Pittsburgh as a long shot. A few more showings like the one on Saturday night should help his case.

“It gives me a boost of confidence, but it’s also a thing where I’ve gotta show that it wasn’t a fluke,” Williams said. “I’ve gotta come out and do it again. Skylar delivered the ball in great places and allowed me to make places, so it wasn’t all just me, as well. It was a team effort and I just was the one that got the notoriety.”
