The ongoing beef between Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill and 100-meter Olympic champion Noah Lyles took a strange turn on Friday. Hill, who previously challenged Lyles to a race on several occasions, took to social media to post a video of him running a personal best in the 100-meter dash.
The video came from his victory in the Last Chance Sprint Series. But when the camera panned after Hill crossed the finish line, it showed a time of 10.15 seconds.

Now, make no mistake, 10.15 is a blindingly fast 100-meter time. And it appears that all the races were electronically timed. So it’s not like Hill was exaggerating. However, he did have a slight wind assist for the run.
But herein lies the catch. Hill’s time doesn’t even sniff Lyles at his best. Lyles posted a time of 10.14 in the 100-meter dash in 2015, just 13 days after his 18th birthday. He posted a time of 9.79 to win Olympic golf and 9.83 at 2023 world championships to claim gold. The last time he ran worse than 10.15 in a 100 was April of 2022
Now, you may say to yourself, “half a second is an incredibly short period of time.” And relatively speaking, you’d be correct. But in the world of track and field, especially in the 100-meter dash, half a second is an absolute eternity.
Hill is bragging about a time that Lyles would stroll to. If the two raced in the 100 right now, it wouldn’t even be competitive.
None of this is to say that Tyreek Hill isn’t fast. He is seemingly the fastest man in the NFL and could well be a high-level track and field sprinter if he transitioned over. But he’s not on Lyles’ level. In fact, he’s not even close. And the more he tries to pretend that he is, the worse he looks.
