There will be some great options available.

Free agency is less than a month away, and although the New Orleans Saints may not be big players in 2025, there are some available players that would be a great addition to the team. This free agency should be very similar to last year, where the Saints gave a bunch of short-term, cheap contracts so the team can continue to rebuild the cap. Due to the state of the current roster, some additions will need to be made before the draft, so let's take a look at some of the free agents the Saints can target in 2025.

QB Jameis Winston

Although the Saints might be looking for a starting quarterback in 2025, free agency will probably not be the avenue they go with due to a lack of options and the high cost. Saying this, a new backup quarterback may be important if New Orleans goes with a younger option for next season, and Jamies Winston would be perfect. Already familiar with the Saints organization, Winston would fit right back in even with a new head coach leading the charge. His leadership and the chemistry he can bring to a locker room could be amazing for a first-year head coach and the development of a young quarterback. If the starter does get injured, he is a great backup option. Winston had the time of his life during Super Bowl week, and although he left the Saints once, his heart could still be in New Orleans.

DE/DT Chauncey Golston

Defensive end is going to be a massive need for the Saints in the offseason. If the Saints transition to a new scheme based around a 3-4 defense, Chauncey Golston would fit into the defense perfectly. He is a great run defender who can play as that 3-4 defensive end or defensive tackle in more of a 4-3 defense. Golston’s pass rush may not be incredible, but after getting 5.5 sacks last season, he proved that he can still make a difference on pass plays. Contractually, Golston is coming off of the best year of his career so he will get a pay raise, but the Saints should still be able to afford it. At 27 years old, getting Golston on a 3-year deal would be excellent for New Orleans, and it would improve the defensive line going into next season.
