Daily Norseman
Today, officially, marks a day that I honestly didn’t know I would ever see.
It was on this date twenty years ago when yours truly published the first-ever post on this very website, the one that got this entire adventure started. Back then there was no gray in my hair, no arthritis in my fingers, and not nearly the level of cynicism in my soul that there is now.
The cynicism was still there, mind you, but in much smaller proportions. As we know, it grows exponentially the longer you expose yourself to this whole thing.
The Minnesota Vikings have been through quite a bit since the good folks at SB Nation gave me the keys to the car here. We’ve seen four different head coaches, three different stadiums, more quarterbacks than you can count on two hands, fewer playoff wins than you can count on one hand. . .yeah, I know. . .a stadium roof collapse, watching the Minnesota legislature debate stadium policies at midnight on a school night, and a ton of other things that I can’t recall off the top of my head.
Personally, I’ve managed to keep myself here through two different careers, multiple states, multiple countries, three different continents, who knows how many different time zones, and all the miscellaneous garbage that the real world has managed to throw my way during that time. There have been podcasts, radio interviews, the occasional live stream, and a few other things that have taken place, all in the name of trying to bring you the best damn coverage of our favorite football team in a manner that this fan base deserves.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to surround myself with a ton of people who have contributed mightily to this site, many of whom are a whole lot smarter than I am. (Joke goes here.) Some of them have had short stays, some of them have contributed for multiple years, and some of them are still making contributions today. If you’re out there and you’re reading this, whether you’re a current contributor to The Daily Norseman or you’ve been one of our contributors in the past, I want to take a moment to thank you for what you’ve brought to the site. We’ve had a lot of different people and a lot of different perspectives on this site over the years, and all of them have been highly valued and played a role in keeping this site going over the past two decades and making it what it’s become today.
Most of all, I want to thank all of you who continue to make The Daily Norseman a part of your Minnesota Vikings experience. Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or you’re a recent member of our community, thank you for deciding that what we have to offer is important enough to help you broaden your perspective and increase your knowledge about our favorite squad.
