The Miami Dolphins start a tough four days on Sunday when they face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8, then turn around and start Week 9 with the Thursday Night Football contest against the Baltimore Ravens. For a team that has struggled all season long, these few days could be the determining factor for the team this year, and for the future of the franchise moving into the 2026 season. First up, the Dolphins need to figure out how to show up and compete against the Falcons.
Miami is 1-6 on the season, with its one win coming against the only team with a worse record this year, the 0-7 New York Jets. The Falcons have not had a great start to the season, but they are 3-3 and in contention in the NFC South. They are shifting to Kirk Cousins starting at quarterback for them this week, replacing the injured Michael Penix, Jr., but Cousins has the experience and skill-level to keep the Falcons moving forward, especially if Miami’s defense struggles.
