A day delayed, call it victory hangover
First game back as the starter, and his best and most polished game as a pro. Richardson finished with over 300 total yards and three touchdowns, two on the ground. This was a statement type of game from AR, and most important of all he did not throw an interception and completed 60% of his passes. This was also a tough context to play in considering that more than half the offensive line was not available, playing away from home, and against a team that was in a win-or-die situation.
Tucker allowed a game-high five pressures against the Jets, as the odds were stacked against him from the beginning not having a veteran like Ryan Kelly next to him, and also having to go up against a monster like Quinnen Williams on the interior. Still, now close to 250 snaps, I think we can say that Tucker is not a viable starting option at right guard, and with a quarterback like Richardson pressure from the interior is more difficult to handle. While Tucker may be a solid starting guard in the future, he just is not right now and the Colts should be exploring different alternatives at the position.
What a touchdown run by AR, who put the offense on his back against the Jets. This was the highlight play, and an exclamation point with even more significance taking into account the entire context. This was him saying “I am the guy”, and hopefully he can keep on making plays like this so we don’t have to go through Joe Flacco again.
In the end this play ended up having zero effect on the outcome of the game but it was just so unnecessary that it pissed me off. This is not the first time that Speed does stuff like this, that there is no need for and has the potential of blowing everything. Can you imagine if after that Rodgers would have connected with Adams and put the Jets in field goal range? The Colts already had the Jets there was absolutely zero need to do such an obvious delay of game and penalty and gift them an extra try. His football IQ is in the negative and linebacker is a massive need this offseason.
Amazing game from rookie swing tackle Matt Goncalves playing in the place of Bernhard Raimann. He was incredible, as Baldinger shows, and gives the Colts a viable option rather than starting Tucker on the inside. Moving Goncalves inside could really help the interior.
Some of it can definitely be attributed to Rodgers’ surprising inaccuracy, but the numbers tell a story and Adams / Wilson combined for ten catches for...
