Brian Gutekunst’s plan for the Packers is right on schedule.
The Packers ended the 2024 season well short of the Super Bowl. That’s not news to you, me, or anybody, least of all the Packers.
But the Packers still seem to have good reason to believe they’re on the right track to make it back to the big game. 2023 may have skewed expectations upward, but 2024 was still supposed to be a fine-tuning year as the Packers got back on better financial footing in the post-Aaron Rodgers era. The plan was to reach 2025 with both a firm, young foundation and fiscal solvency in hand.
More or less, they’re two for two. Their young players had some ups and downs in 2024, but the core of the team is still strong and talented — in fact, it was the veterans that were really more disappointing than the youngsters this season, including Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark, and Jaire Alexander. But even if you’re not sold on the youth movement yet, you can’t deny they’re in much better financial shape than they were 24 months ago.
The plan, so far, appears to be on track. That’s no guarantee that the plan will pay off, but at least the plan seems to be in good shape. And in today’s NFL, having a plan seems to put you well ahead of the curve. Just look at the Jaguars!
In any case, it’s not like the Packers can just change course at this point. Pulling the plug on pretty much any part of Brian Gutekunst’s plan would involve pretty much a complete teardown, and that’s a non-starter.
The Pack is on track, but it’s time to start seeing some ROI on this plan.
Bullard had an up and down rookie campaign, some of which was probably compounded by his constantly changing responsibilities.
It’s not great when anybody regresses, but 2024 featured quite a few.
Brian Gutekunst’s plan might have to include a serious makeover at corner.

The Bills aren’t the only ones finding themselves stuck in Buffalo.
