The roster-building process never ends.
The Packers’ 2025 roster is basically set. Chances are if you sat down and did a roster prediction today, you could probably nail 40-45 of the players on the Packers’ initial 53-man roster pretty easily, and most people could probably go higher than that. The fact is, as much as people like to talk about position battles and roster churn during training camp, most teams have a pretty good idea what their roster for a given season is going to look like as soon as that year’s NFL Draft is over.
Even the roster battles that do happen don’t really involve guys coming out of nowhere to make a run. That does happen from time to time, to be sure, but usually position battles, such as they are, involve two or three guys that have already been on the roster for some time.
All that said, there’s still a chance for some interesting additions. De’Vondre Campbell’s tenure in Green Bay ended badly, but he was quite a find late in free agency — and he’s not the only example of waiting around to find something great.
Maybe the Packers do end up doing a little bit of summer roster tweaking. Maybe it ends up making a difference. Even if I wouldn’t count on it, it’s certainly possible, and finding the exact right fit for a player might only be a matter of thinking a bit outside the box.
I’d bet pretty heavily against the idea of the Packers actually signing Jadeveon Clowney, but we’ve previously written here at APC how it could be a good idea.
There’s plenty to keep an eye on in the NFC this year.
I’m not sure listening to Terry Bradshaw is going to be all that helpful in 2025, but maybe he’s on the right track here.
Jacobs’ first season was great, but what if 2025 is even better?
This sport looks like recreational drowning to me, but maybe I’m just biased toward breathing during my free time.
