Tucker Kraft had an absolutely monster week against the Washington Commanders in week 2. He caught 6 of his 7 targets for 124 yards and every single one of his catches ended up being significant. He moved the chains when the Green Bay Packers were inside their own 5 yard line, he had a 57 yard gain two plays later, he brought the offense into the red zone, he turned 1st and 25 into 2nd and 6, he converted on 3rd and 6, and finally he capped it all off with a touchdown to extend the lead in the 4th quarter.
While his performance has earned him fantasy football waiver wire targets and Pro Football Focus team of the week honors, Tucker Kraft has also been awarded the top Madden Ultimate Team offensive player of the week. No Green Bay tight end has been a MUT Team of the Week player since…well, Tucker Kraft last year in week 5. However, he was only part of the TOTW promotion and not the main draw.
For everyone who doesn’t support EA’s terrible and glitchy football sim or their cash grabbing microtransaction game mode, Madden Ultimate Team is a great idea that was immediately ruined by profiteering. A player collects virtual trading cards which are then used to build a football team. Throughout the season, stronger and stronger cards are released. By the end of the NFL season, 99 overall cards start to show up and all team building just becomes rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Someone who has spent thousands of dollars ripping through virtual trading card packs is going to grind your face into the mud using an offensive scheme they copied from a Twitch streamer.
Every Team of the Week iteration includes a marquee player that is only available in packs for a limited time. This week, it’s been revealed that the LTD offensive card is 89 overall Tucker Kraft.
Kraft’s full ratings won’t be revealed until his card is released at 1:30pm Eastern, but the preview shows he’s the second fastest at the position behind recently released Evan Engram and has better route running ratings than limited edition Taylor Swift’s Boyfriend. His strength and run blocking absolutely trounces both players.
If you’re playing MUT and staying on the bleeding edge of the team building metagame, then you already know all of this. You also already know if you want him on your team, it’s going to cost you a million coins on the auction house. For sane people who don’t do these things: the going price for a million MUT coins on sketchy and terms of service violating websites is about $35.
In the meantime, those of us who are sick enough to play this abomination of a game mode yet sane enough to wear the moniker “No Money Spent” only have the option of a fully upgraded Team Captain Greg Olsen. That is to say, if you haven’t already moved him to fullback for extra team chemistry...
