Earlier this summer, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa raised some eyebrows when speaking about his relationship with star wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The 27-year-old signal caller claimed the two were still working on rebuilding their rapport.
Following the Dolphins’ Week 18 loss to the New York Jets in 2024, Hill proclaimed to the media that he wanted out of Miami. He would later walk-back those remarks, but many wondered how his comments would affect relationships with his teammates, including Tagovailoa. Some even wondered if the wide receiver would be traded to another club.
Hill was not traded and will ultimately play 2025 with the Dolphins and Tagovailoa.
Today, while speaking with the South Florida media, Tagovailoa was once again asked about his relationship with Hill.
“I would say it’s good… People might’ve blown it out of proportion to where now, we’ve worked on it. I think that conversation is dead now. I think once people see Tyreek score on Sunday, everyone will forget about that. We’re in a good spot, and we’ve been in a good spot for some time. I’m really happy with that and pleased with that.”
Tagovailoa’s answer should leave no level of ambiguity in regards to where things stand with Hill. However, when the team struggles this year, will Hill once again ask out of Miami or will he continue to try and say and do the right things?
As the old saying goes, “Winning cures all ills.” Let’s hope the Miami Dolphins, Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill experience plenty of winning this season, and that the ills of a potentially fractured relationship are far in the rear-view mirror.
