For New Orleans Saints wide receiver Trey Palmer, returning to Nebraska was an easy decision.
The former Nebraska Cornhusker and LSU Tiger was among the players helping Saints WR coach Keith Williams at his fifth annual wide receiver camp at Millard South High School, and Palmer made it clear there was never any doubt he’d be back.
“It was a no doubt,” Palmer said. “I knew he had a camp because I had heard about it. But it was a no doubt that I was coming back to Nebraska, to GBR. It’s like a home to me.”
For Palmer, the opportunity meant more than simply running drills. It was a chance to give back to young athletes who are following the same path he once dreamed of taking.
“It’s just a blessing to be out here and give back to the kids because at once that was me,” Palmer said. “Being a part of it for the first time, and being back in Nebraska… I just love it here.”
Palmer spent just one season at Nebraska, but it was clearly a memorable one. His record-breaking 2022 campaign helped lead him to the NFL, and he has continued to embrace the Nebraska fan base long after his college career ended.
“It’s just the atmosphere out here that I always love,” Palmer said. “It’s like a home to me.”
His return to Nebraska is another reminder that the bond between Palmer and Husker fans remains as strong as ever.
