Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is being criticized on social media for baiting officials into a penalty call in the AFC Championship game. The pass catcher egregiously flopped after initially sparking a back-and-forth with Bills players.

Buffalo was flagged on the play. Kansas City was the beneficiary. Viewers are once again upset.

The play occurred in the first half of action after a Patrick Mahomes touchdown run. The quarterback scrambled to the endzone, running through a Damar Hamlin tackle at the goal line.

The score put the Chiefs up 20-10 before the halftime break. Kelce quickly came to celebrate.

Rather than spend the moment with his teammate, though, the tight end got in Hamlin’s face. A Bills defender caught sight of the interaction and rushed to Hamlin’s defense. Kelce then flopped when confronted to draw the flag.

Jordan Phillips was called for unnecessary roughness. Travis Kelce was not penalized for taunting. As is often the case, referees got the second guy.

That call was made a bit easier thanks to Kelce’s acting job. The constant flopping has grown tiresome for many NFL fans.

Just last week, Patrick Mahomes was blasted for admittedly trying to draw a late hit flag on the Texans. He was the beneficiary of a few questionable calls in that nine-point win.

A narrative currently surrounds the franchise with many believing the league is looking out for its top team. Kansas City has benefitted from a number of questionable calls that have occurred in crucial moments this season.

Chiefs players aren’t doing anything to nix those theories. Instead, they’ve done their best to manipulate referees with on-field tactics. Until officials start calling the games differently, the issues will continue.
