Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce offered a fascinating take on how teams will target Jacksonville Jaguars two-way rookie Travis Hunter when he’s playing defense.

Travis Hunter, the No. 2 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, plans to continue playing wide receiver and cornerback in the pros. Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy after dazzling as a two-way force at Colorado, catching 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense to go along with 11 pass breakups and four interceptions as a cornerback.

Hunter will primarily play wide receiver, and it remains to be seen how many defensive snaps he’ll get under head coach Liam Coen.

During an appearance on the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast, the Chiefs superstar tight end gave his opinion on how other teams will gameplan against Travis Hunter:

“Teams are going to be going after him. They’re going to try and make his day miserable…Dude, if he plays corner, they’re just going to run deep balls at him all day. The wide receivers just take off on him all day. Just to try to get him tired. Why wouldn’t you just attack him that way?”

It’s indeed a smart way for other teams to go after Hunter. No matter how fast and athletic he is, the two-way phenom is bound to have limited stamina on defense if he’s going to spend most of his reps on offense.
