With the Kansas City Chiefs out of the postseason race, the focus is on tight end Travis Kelce and his playing future.
The Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention in Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear late in the contest, adding more insult to injury in what has been a disastrous year for the defending AFC champions.
In Kansas City, the attention has shifted toward Travis Kelce. Could these final three games be the last in his Hall of Fame career? Or will he sign up for a 14th campaign? We won’t know any time soon, as Kelce already told reporters he will make his decision after the season.
During the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast, the 36-year-old spoke about Mahomes’ injury and recovery. Notice the interesting way that Travis Kelce worded the following sentence:
“He’s gonna make sure he comes back stronger than ever. Hopefully, the Chiefs can get him back as soon as possible…I know he’s going to be doing everything he can to get back on that field as soon as possible.”
As ML Football points out, Kelce said “the Chiefs.” Not “we.” So make of that as you will.
BREAKING: TRAVIS KELCE APPEARS TO BE DONE WITH THE #CHIEFS.
On the Patrick Mahomes injury: “He’s gonna make sure he comes back stronger than ever. Hopefully, THE CHIEFS can get him back as soon as possible”
For the last decade Travis has always said “WE.”pic.twitter.com/KaYahFSzZz

The Chiefs visit the Tennessee Titans at 1:00 p.m. EST.
The 10-time Pro Bowler may not be in his prime anymore, but Kelce is still playing at a relatively high level. He has 67 receptions for 797 yards and five touchdowns, needing just 203 yards to reach 1,000 yards for the first time since 2022.
But with three Super Bowl rings and a Hall of Fame resume, Kelce has nothing left to prove in the NFL. He proposed to Taylor Swift in August, so don’t be surprised if he ultimately decides to put his personal life first after an illustrious football career.
Since Kelce won’t make his decision until after the season, Chiefs fans better just enjoy these next three games and treat them like they’re his last.
